The storm over ’s comments continues to rage, with Manchester legend stepping in.

Vieira claimed that bringing back appeared ‘desperate’, but days later Ferguson fired back stating that despite insisting would never play for them again, ’s decision to bring the Argentine striker back was just as desperate.

Bryan Robson, speaking at , backed his former manager and hit out at Vieira for his ‘out of order’ comments:

“City were trying to have a go at Scholes coming back.

“I think Vieira is totally out of order in what he said.

“The boss came back straight away and he was dead right in what he said [about Tevez].

“If Tevez had been playing for us, there’s no way the gaffer would have given him a game this season.

“It doesn’t matter how good you are. How can you go off for three months like that?”
