Bryan Robson has back Jose Mourinho to take over from Sir Alex Ferguson when the Scot decides to call it a day.

Mourinho, currently in charge of Real Madrid, has long been linked with the job and there is a respect between Mourinho and Sir Alex, a man the Portuguese manager affectionately refers to as ‘Boss’.

And Robson, speaking at the the Soccerex forum, feels that Mourinho should be top of the list of names to succeed Sir Alex:

“As far as I’m concerned, and from what I know about Manchester United, they are not considering [a new manager] at the moment.

“How do you replace Sir Alex Ferguson? It is near enough impossible. But they are going to have to do that and Mourinho is definitely one who would be at the top of the list. His record speaks for itself.”

Mourinho has experience of winning silverware in various different countries at both domestic and European level.

He is currently locked in an engrossing battle with Barcelona lead by Pep Guardiola, and if he manages to wrestle the title from the Nou Camp it will surely further add to his credentials given the quality that Barcelona possess.

Cant wait. Then MU’S real destiny will unfold. No more artificial, wilful, folk club, passport squad inclusion. Only best player. Champions of world, not just domestic.
    Cmon real reds!

I’m still not sure. I admire jose a lot. I believe that he is an amazing manager but i don’t think he’s fit for united. We all know what he’s like. He stays at a club for 3-4 years, wins them the champions league(even though it didn’t happened with Chelsea and he can do it with real this season)with them and then leaves them club. And the club which he leaves, suffers. We need someone to replace SAF who can understand the culture of our club and stay for a long time. I want Moyes to replace Sir Alex. David have shown brilliance with everton. Building up an excellent team with limited budget…developing some world class players…and he’s a loyal chap…let’s see.
