Brazilian left back Fabio has revealed he would have no problem joining Benfica on loan next season.

Sir Alex Ferguson stated that the defender would be going out on loan to aid his development, with Benfica being a likely destination, and Fabio has confirmed that it is a move that interests him.

Speaking in Maisfutebol, Fabio said:

“I know Benfica, we watch many of their games in Brazil. In fact, everyone in Brazil follows Benfica’s games – it is a good club and would be very good for me, no doubt.

“I have a Portuguese passport, and speak the same language. The adjustment would be easy. There would be no problems, I think.

“Portugal would be a good solution for me. I follow some of the league and I know Portuguese teams, because they are always good in European competition.”

One issue he faces though is being apart from his twin brother Rafael, the first time they will have been separated in their career. But whilst it will be hard, Fabio is realistic:

“It will be difficult.

“We are never going to be separate, but this is football, one day it has to happen. Sooner or later this would happen because in football it is not easy being side by side forever.”
