Former Manchester United midfielder David Beckham is the personification of the potential success of commercial opportunities around football. Ever since he starred as a youngster for a well-known fast food restaurant, Beckham has been hot property and even now continues to be in high demand from brands looking to tap into the football market.
37-years-old, David Beckham is still arguably the most famous footballer in the world, having a large reach in England due to his time playing in the Premier League, the US where he still plays for LA Galaxy, and right across the planet. From his humble beginnings in Leytonstone, Becks is now undoubtedly a global superstar.
We will have to wait and see whether he gets selected to play in Euro 2012 for Stuart Pearce’s Great Britain team, but he would be a big draw if he was involved in the Olympics, that is for sure. Despite his age he’d also be an asset for the side, as few players have as much international experience as Beckham, who has played 115 times for England.
Being married to Victoria Beckham, formerly Posh Spice in the Spice Girls, David will have been exposed to plenty of music in his lifetime as well, but for once he’s the one creating it. Here is David Beckham in a video ad for the Samsung Galaxy Note, using his control of the ball to compose a piece of music…
That is an innovative way to reproduce the melody of Beethoven’s classic ‘Ode to Joy’. I’m not sure if this iconic piece of music has ever been creative by kicking a series of soccer balls against a 15-foot wall of drums!
Beckham clearly enjoyed making the video and had this to say about working with Samsung: “I am excited to be partnering with Samsung as the official sponsor of the London 2012 Games in my hometown. I hope everyone will experience and enjoy the Olympic Games like they have never before.”
David will still be hoping he’s involved with Team GB, too!
