Manchester United’s pursuit of Shinji Kagawa appears to be coming to an end after the club confirmed they had agreed a fee for the player with his club Borussia Dortmund.

Kagawa emerged as a United target in the latter part of the season, and Sir Alex Ferguson even made a trip to watch the Japanese player in person as Dortmund beat Bayern Munich in the German Cup final.

Kagawa capped off an impressive season by opening the scoring in that game as Dortmund won 5-2, adding the cup to the Bundesliga title. The goal was his 17 th of the season and he also took his number of assists to 13 in the game.

Any deal is subject to a medical as well as Kagawa securing a work permit, but United hope to wrap up the transfer by the end of June.
