Despite previous reports, Manchester United have not agreed a deal to sign Crewe Alexander’s Nick Powell but it appears they are at the front of the queue for the teenager’s signature.

At the end of May the Daily Mail stated that United had agreed a deal with Crewe for the midfielder, but no news was forthcoming from either party in regards to a move.

Talk of interest from Chelsea as well as Arsenal further confirmed that no deal had been reached, but today various sources are claiming that Manchester United are at the head of the pack for the 18 year old.

Crewe manager Steve Davis confirmed that he expects the starlet to leave this summer, but as of now no move has been made for him:

“Nick is still with us, but I am sure talks are still ongoing with his agent and clubs.

“I still envisage him leaving us this summer, but if it doesn’t happen then we would welcome him back for pre-season. We’ll see what happens this week because obviously I would like to know as soon as possible if we are moving forward without him or not.”

KAGAWA, POWELL AND MODRIC! Can be a dream summer for us!

  2. Must be a slow news month for all the nationals…by my reckoning the amountof players we have been associated with we could field a team in all divisions and win them all including CL, Europa and the world cup…

Nick Powell would be a good investment for Ferguson and Man Utd. He is a talented young player and is also English, which is always a positive. I also believe we have room for him in our squad. The boy is capable of playing in various attacking positions. If he is good enough then he is old enough. It would be a positive for him to train with Rooney, Scholes and Giggs every day.

I hope we also sign Nathaniel Clyne this summer as he is another talented young English talent. Clyne is predominately a right back but is also capable of playing left back. I think a versatile player like that is what we need. I’m sure Ferguson is looking for a left back, but Clyne would provide great competition to Rafeal at right back. If we can’t find a left back then Clyne will be able to challenge Evra as well.

As well as signing young English talent like Powell and Clyne, hopefully we will do some big business and sign Kagawa and Modric. These two would be brilliant signings. Kagawa would be the playmaker behind the main striker Rooney. Modric would be the perfect deep lying playmaker.

Shinji Kagawa- £12 million rising to £17 million
Luka Modric – £28 million rising to £32 million
Nick Powell – £2 million rising to £4 million
    Nathaniel Clyne – £3 million
