Is Nani a secret The Busby Way reader (heh)?

Yesterday we spoke of United’s need to wrap up a new contract for Nani after reports of talks between the winger and the club stalling, and 24 hours he has allayed our fears be reaffirming his commitment to the club.

Having signed a new deal in 2010, Nani has 2 years left and it was reported that talks had begun as early as April in order to secure his future, but talks apparently broke down and quotes were attributed to Nani talking up a move away from Old Trafford.

But speaking to the Time Of India, Nani appears happy at United:

“We will see. I am very happy at Man United and have been there five years and won every title.

“The manager has great faith in me and that’s what is important. My agent is negotiating and we’ll see what happens.”

Having seen United pipped at the post by rivals Man City, the winger is determined to improve on his injury affected showing last season and help United reclaim the title:

“That’s football – you are always going to suffer disappointments and you just have to deal with them.

“Football is like life and so there will be times when you suffer a big disappointment.

“It hurt to miss the league title in the last minutes, City had incredible luck that day. Hopefully next season is our turn and it’s up to us to make that happen.”

One response to ““My agent is negotiating and we’ll see what happens.””

It’s difficult to know what is happening but I expect Nani will sign a new contract with the club. He will hopefully be around to welcome his international team-mate in Joao Moutinho, who I hope we will sign this summer.

I do feel there is real interest in James Rodriguez, but it might be a deal for next summer, although I would love him know. Park Ji Sung will sign for QPR for £5 million and we are reducing our options on the wings. Nani is important but I wouldn’t be surprised if a young attacking midfielder still arrived, hopefully alongside Moutinho.
