Sheffield United boss Danny Wilson is optimistic about the impact John Cofie can have on League 1 this season.

Cofie was linked with The Blades earlier this week, and is close to securing a season long loan deal with the side having spent  6 months at Royal Antwerp last season.

And despite his relative in experience at first team level Wilson is confident, given Cofie’s attributes, that when it clickers for the 19 year old he will be more than a handful for League 1 defenders.

Speaking in the Sheffield Telegraph, Wilson said:

“John has got all the attributes. He’s strong, he’s got pace and power. It’s rare that you find all of that in one player.

“John is young and he’s learning his trade so he won’t get everything right in every single game.

“We’ve got to be patient with him. Will he start from the off? We’ll just have to see but I don’t see any reason why he shouldn’t. You’ve got to take the plunge some time.

“John’s got the enthusiasm and exemplary attitude that you would expect from one of Sir Alex Ferguson’s players.

“We know that he’ll run his socks off and he’s clearly got goals in him, although, like anyone, he’ll need to work hard.”
