Kiko Macheda has heaped praise on his friend Davide Petrucci, claiming the midfielder’s performances in the reserves last term warranted his place on tour with the first team.
Petrucci’s struggles with injury saw him miss nearly 2 years of development but the Italian shone in his first full season back and went on to captain the reserves to league and cup honours.
His impressive performances saw him included in an Italian u21 training camp by former Juventus stalwart Ciro Ferrara, and served to show just how well he has performed since his return.
An impressive cameo against AmaZulu during the week saw him hit the woodwork and a good pre season will hopefully be the precursor to a good season as he looks to step up to the next level.
With speculation about a loan move floating around, Kiko Macheda is rooting for his Roman pal as he makes his way at United. he told ManUtd.com:
“I’m really pleased for Davide.
“He’s had a tough time at United with injuries but he did great for the Reserves last season. He deserves to be on tour and was unlucky not to score the other night.
“I’ve just told him to stay calm and not to put too much pressure on himself, but to enjoy the tour and do his best and just play his game. He is a great player and it’s great to see him playing for the first team. I hope he’ll do very well in the future.”
