Moura Deal Still Possible Say Sao Paulo

With Lucas Moura’s agent declaring his client’s move to Old Trafford was dead, this transfer saga has taken another turn as Sao Paulo have stated a transfer is still possible.

Sir Alex Ferguson announced his interest in the young Brazilian yesterday but insisted that, contrary to reports in the The Daily Mirror, no agreement had been reached.

The Brazilian club are said to be holding out for £30m but United appear unwilling to match Sao Paulo’s valuation of the 19 year old, understandable considering Moura’s age and lack of experience.

This morning Wagner Ribeiro told UOL ‘there was no possibility he (Moura) leaves now’.

But Sao Paulo Vice President Joao Paulo de Jesus Lopes disagrees and told Estadao ESPN:

“I don’t rule out the possibility that in the future we open negotiations with Manchester United as we received them with great courtesy.

“And there is the possibility they come back with another offer. Their approach was serious.

“Other teams have also expressed interest for Lucas, but only through the press from their countries.”

It was claimed that Moura had his heart set on a move to United, but Lopes has reiterated Ribiero’s claims that Moura would be happy to remain in Brazil:

“Lucas has already expressed his intention of eventually staying at Sao Paulo.

“He is a very important player for our team. He wants to stay because he is still very young. He’s only 19.”
