Former Arsenal favourite Ray Parlour believes that Manchester United are trying to get themselves a bargain by signing Robin Van Persie for £15m.

Manchester United’s courting of Van Persie was made public by Sir Alex last month, and he reaffirmed that he wanted to sign the Dutch striker following the game against Barcelona.

So far Arsenal have refused to budge, unwilling to sell their star striker to a one time rival, but with Van Persie apparently keen on a move to Old Trafford it seems Wenger will have accept a United offer or lose the player on a free.

Wenger named Van Persie as a sub in the friendly against Cologne on Sunday and the Dutchman didn’t receive a warm welcome by Arsenal fans. Van Persie wanting to leave is key to the deal, and it is because of this that Parlour believes United can get themselves a snip as he told Talksport:

“Manchester United have been a little bit cheeky with their bid of £15million.

“They know Robin van Persie wants to get away, Man City’s interest has cooled and Juventus are off the radar so Man United are now the front runners.

“They know he’s desperate to leave and they are trying to nick him for £15million. He would be a bargain at that price.”

I dont want to see RVP sign for Utd. I believe you should never sell your best players to your rivals. If it is to be £22 million then that would soften the blow a bit. Lets hope he has an injury free season next year or he could turn out to be an expensive purchase.
