Sir Alex Ferguson has joked that the current injury crisis that has gripped the club has left him on the cusp of calling Steve Bruce and Gary Pallister out of retirement!
Sir Alex goes into tomorrow’s game against Fulham with just Nemanja Vidic fit, Michael Carrick was drafted in against Everton but whilst Phil jones started training earlier this week, rumours of Jonny Evans being fit appear off the mark.
Sir Alex also confirmed that tomorrow could see a home debut for Robin Van Persie, as he he said at his press conference:
“I need to call Bruce and Pallister!
“Phil Jones started training yesterday but tomorrow is too soon for him. Robin has had a few days training since Monday. It’s a home game and there’s every chance he could get a start.
“It’s pretty much the same as Monday night injury-wise. Alex will be involved tomorrow because he gives that back-up. Evra could actually play centre-back. He has done in the past. But I don’t think Alex will start tomorrow, I think he’ll be on the bench.”
