Further to Wayne Rooney’s tweet confirming his commitment to the club earlier in the week, David Gill has confirmed that the striker isn’t going anywhere.

There had been speculation over Rooney’s future after the striker was named as a sub in United’s win over Fulham last Saturday but Rooney took to Twitter to dispel this, saying he was here to stay.

Now there is official word from the club as Gill has backed up the striker’s stance saying Manchester United are not willing to listen to offer for the striker:

“Wayne is definitely not for sale and I can categorically say there has been no discussion within the club or with his agent.

“He is on a long-term contract with us and is very integral to our team. Wayne’s a great player who has got a bad injury, but he will come back.

‘He didn’t start on Saturday for various reasons. Alex Fergusonpicks the best team to win the game and that’s it. He’s a manager who’s been so successful there will be rotation.

“Robin van Persie has shown the desire to play for Manchester United, With him, Shinji Kagawa, Nick Powell, Alexander Buttner and Angelo Henriquez, we’ve refreshed pretty well.”
