Last year the competition saw faces like Larnell Cole, Michael Keane, Paul Pogba, Ravel Morrison and Zeki Fryers all make appearances and Rio Ferdinand hopes that Sir Alex will continue with this policy of using the competition to prepare some of the younger player for first team football.
The defender is likely to sit the game out but believes United have enough young talent to see off their opponents and has singled out a few faces that he hopes to see as he told ManUtd.Com:
“It’s great and I’m looking forward to maybe seeing our new signing Angelo Henriquez, who has come in from Chile.
“I’m sure Nick Powell will play and I’m looking forward to seeing him again too as he’s a very exciting prospect. I’m excited to perhaps see Jesse Lingard play and I think Larnell Cole [could feature] as well.
“There are loads of them and I could go on and on and be here all day. We have some really talented, young players and I’m looking forward to seeing them.
“There is Michael Keane at the back too and hopefully they can stamp their authority on the cup this year.”
