Sir Alex has been impressed by the worK Robin Van Persie has put in since joining the club, and has challenged the striker to fire United to the title.

Van Persie has impressed since joining United, and his brace against Cluj on Wednesday were his 7th and 8th of the season.

With no pre season at Arsenal and missing the chance to get acclimatised to his new team mates, Van Persie has been putting in extra work behind the scenes, impressing his new manager:

“The refreshing thing for me is he’s doing extra work in training because he’s not had any pre-season games.

“It’s quite remarkable considering he’s got seven goals in [his last] seven games. I’m pleased with that and I think his fitness will improve even more.

“He’s a good passer of the ball with good vision in his passing, too. The goal he made last week for [Shinji] Kagawa against Tottenham is evidence of his passing ability.”

With his impressive start Sir Alex, is hopeful the Dutch striker can match his impressive return of 37 goals last term and feels if he can get above 20 along side one of United’s other 3 strikers, the team will have a good chance at getting their hands on some silverware:

“I would love that to happen.

“In my experience, and where we are at the moment, we need two strikers to get over 20 goals. If we get that, we definitely have a chance.”
