Following his first senior goal for Norway this week, Sir Alex Ferguson has backed Josh King to have a good career.

The Manchester United striker has recently made the step up into Norway’s national side despite not figuring in Manchester United’s first team plans.

A regular in Warren Joyce’s u21 side, King has been heralded by both the Norwegian u21 manager Per Joar Hansen as well as Egil Olsen, manager of the senior side, and in his 4 appearances for Olsen’s side he has impressed.

On Tuesday King won a penalty and scored as Norway beat Cyprus 3-1 away in a World Cup Qualifier, and his performances didn’t go unnoticed by Sir Alex:

“Josh King has done very well.

“We get mixed fortunes when players go on loan and Josh didn’t play much at Monchengladbach last year.

“But he did well in pre-season and has been working really hard.

“He’s shown he has good ability. He scored the third goal on Tuesday and that is bound to have given him a boost.

“He’s very quick with a great physique and should have a good career.”
