Center back Vegard Forren has shone in Solskjaer’s second season as coach of the Norwegian side, and the United legend believes the defender has what it takes to play for his old club.
Whilst Chris Smalling is ready to join Rio Ferdinand and Jonny Evans for first team action, United constantly seem to have issues with their centerbacks and at one point or another every single one has been injured this season.
Nemanja Vidic is still sidelined whilst Phil Jones is nearing a comeback, but Solskjaer feels his man could do a job for his old boss.
Speaking to TV2, the former striker said:
“Yes, he could play for Manchester United, but I don’t have to tell him that.
“At his best he is a very good footballer but he has to be focused on delivering and securing his place in the Norway team.”
At present Forren has made just 4 appearances for the national side but his form has seen him thrust into Egil Olsen’s plans starting his nation’s last 2 World Cup Qualifiers.
