Whilst it was revealed that Manchester United winger Ashley Young would miss both ties against Real Madrid in the European Cup, this morning it has emerged that Real have injury problems of their own.

The Daily Mirror are reporting that Real goalkeeper Iker Casillas has fractured his thumb, ruling him out for both games against us.

This is further bad news for the Spanish champions as they have struggled this season and whilst they have a replacement in Adan, he doesn’t quite command the same respect that Casillas does.

Casillas picked up the injury in yesterday’s Copa Del Rey game against Valencia when Alvaro Arbelloa accidentally kicked his left hand trying to clear the ball. He was subbed off for Adan in the first half and now reports indicate that he sustained a fractured thumb during the incident.

He later posted this image on Twitter:

Missing Casillas as well as having to worry about gruelling ties against Barcelona around the same time as facing us, Real Madrid face a tough task in advancing to the next round in the competition, one of their remaining shots at silverware this season.

All we have to worry about now is a guy called Ronaldo who I’ve heard is pretty good!
