Wayne Rooney celebrates with Ryan Giggs after United's 2nd

Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that Ryan Giggs has signed a 1 year extension, meaning the United legend will play on past his 40th birthday.

Giggs is in line to appear against Norwich tomorrow, his 1000th senior appearance including games for Wales & Team GB, so the signing of a new contract is the perfect way for the superstar to mark the occasion.

There had been questions over Giggs’ form at the start of the season but the Welshman has cleared up an doubts with some impressive performances for United over the last few months laying on assists for team mates as well as scoring goals himself.

With a haul that includes 12 Premier League titles, Giggs is already the most decorated player in British football and could add to that haul if United go on convert their 12 point lead over Man City into a 13th title.
