Sir Alex Ferguson Manchester United presser

Whilst Manchester United’s fixture with Real Madrid is stealing the headlines, Sir Alex Ferguson is taking the season one game at a time meaning his focus is on Saturday’s Norwich game.

United last tasted defeat in the Premier League back in November taking on the Canaries at Carrow Road, so Sir Alex will be keen to guard against complacency when Chris Hughton’s side visit Old Trafford this Saturday.

He will be buoyed by some positive injury news which in turn puts United in good stead for Real Madrid’s visit the following game.

As expected Robin Van Persie has recovered from his bruised hip and is fit to face Norwich even if Phil Jones isn’t. But whilst Jones is out for this game, he is still fighting to be fit for the Madrid game.

The day’s other good news sees Ryan Giggs extend his career at Old Trafford for at least 1 more year after signing a new deal. Sir Alex added that upon retirement both Giggs and Paul Scholes will work for United in some capacity, the same way Nicky Butt, Brian McClair etc do.

Sir Alex also commented on reports linking him with a move into a director’s role saying even if he does it won’t be for a long time!
