Zidane will face United legends this summer

Old Trafford is set to be lit up well after the season ends when a team of Manchester United legends take on their Real Madrid counterparts in charity match.

The United legends lost 3-2 at the Bernabeu last summer and the return match on the 2nd of June is set to be just as entertaining with Real Madrid announcing a star studded line up to match their hosts.

Whilst the United team will include Dwight Yorke, Andrew Cole, Edwin van der Sar, Jaap Stam, Teddy Sheringham, Denis Irwin and Nicky Butt, Real Madrid will also be bringing out the big guns announcing that Fernando Hierro, Fernando Redondo and Emilio Butragueno will be joined by Luis Figo and Zinedine Zidane.

The United legends will be managed by Bryan Robson and the United great spoke on the inclusion of the two Madrid stars:

“Judging by the players that Real Madrid are bringing to Old Trafford, I’d say they are taking it very seriously, but so are we!”

Robson also spoke on getting one over on the Madrid side after last summer:

“They narrowly beat us last year and we are all determined to make a comeback at Old Trafford but, above all else, we want to put on a great show for all the fans. The work the Manchester United Foundation does in the community is really important to us and it’ll be a great day to raise funds and highlight its achievements.”

Manchester United will face Real Madrid on Sunday 2nd June at Old Trafford in a game under the Red Heart United Banner, a foundation set up to help disadvantaged young people. To purchase tickets click here.
