Tom Cleverley feels his friend Danny Welbeck can be a star

Manchester United coach Rene Meulensteen has spoken of his pride in seeing Danny Welbeck and Tom Cleverley rise through the club’s ranks to become England internationals.

Meulensteen had a big in hand in the training of the duo and oversaw the two’s progress into the first team. Now certified first team players, both have progressed to becoming key English internationals for Roy Hodgson.

And speaking to Inside United, the Dutchman who is widely praised as one of the best coaches in Europe spoke of his pride at two players representing the club and everything it represents:

“As a club we can develop players who can be world class. That’s the level we operate on. The fact that Danny and Tom have come through the ranks and become England internationals is something to be really proud of. Players like Tom and Danny have been brought up on everything about this club, the history, the tradition… they are the heartbeat of the club.”
