Sir Alex Ferguson has expressed his astonishment at stories linking Manchester United with Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao.
There has been a strong surge in stories linking United with the striker after Spanish paper Marca claimed United had even gone as far as to make advanced payments to ensure the Columbian ended up a Old Trafford.
These claims were later backed up by Guillem Balague adding further fuel to the fire, and papers then began to speculate which of United’s strikers would be moved on to accomodate the incoming striker. Wayne Rooney and Javier Hernandez were the settled upon strikers but Sir Alex has quickly moved to dispel this.
Speaking to the Sunday papers, Sir Alex pondered:
“Do you honestly believe that?
“Really? It does amaze me that you come up with that one.”
Guillem Balague has some explaining to do methinks, unless this is another Sir Alex long con and we do end up seeing Falcao at Old Trafford this summer.
