Michael Carrick is looking ahead to the Arsenal game

Tom Cleverley has hailed midfield partner Michael Carrick after the midfielder was nominated for the PFA player of the year awards.

Carrick has played a huge part in the success Manchester United have enjoyed in the league this season, missing just one game as United stormed to a 13 point lead, and has earned rave reviews for  his showings both offensively and defensively.

Cleverley has been studying his team mate, and the England international has placed him in the pantheon of great midfielders that have lined up for United in his time at the club.

Speaking to MUTV, Cleverley said:

“Michael has been fantastic for United this season.

“Growing up here, I’ve been really lucky all the way through as I’ve always had fantastic midfielders to learn from. He’s one of those.

“With his forward passing and calmness on the ball, he just knows how to control and win games, so I can always be learning from him.”
