Robert Lewandowski wants to move to Bayern Munich

Manchester United will have to look elsewhere if they hope to sign a striker this summer after long term target Robert Lewandowski reportedly told Dortmund he wants to join Bayern Munich.

United have been linked with Lewandowski since last summer, and even the Pole’s national team manager Franciszek Smuda claimed that he would join the Old Trafford side.

Having helped Dortmund to two Bundesliga titles, this season Lewandowski’s stock has risen even further, and following his 4 goal demolition of Real Madrid in the Champions League semi final it was thought that even the Spanish side were on his trail.

Lewandowski has just 12 months left on his contract and was believed to be weighing up his options but Bild are reporting that the striker has made up his mind, and much to the chagrin of United and Real Madrid, he wants to follow Mario Goetze to the Allianz Arena or will leave on a free next summer.

It was believed that Klopp had tried to get him out of German in order to prevent the striker from competing directly with his Dortmund side, but with Lewandowski deciding that Bayern is his preferred destination it seems inevitable that he will get his way even if he has to wait 12 months.
