Larnell Cole's brace helped United lift the inaugural u21 championship

Larnell Cole is delighted to have won the u21 championship on Monday evening, and is hoping his performance put him a step closer to the first team.

Cole proved the match winner against Tottenham, scoring twice as Manchester United overcame Spurs’ 2 goal halftime lead to win 3-2. The brace took Cole’s goal tally to 5 in 2 games as he also hit a hat trick against Liverpool in the semi finals a week before.

Cole’s performance saw him named man of the match and the Manchester born midfielder couldn’t have been happier:

“I’m over the moon.

“It’s been a long season so I’m happy for everyone, not only myself but the whole team. Everyone’s worked hard. It’s good to win another league title.”

With success in the league, the 20 year old is now hoping to push on using the experience of this season to stake a claim for a place in the first team:

“I’ve just got to carry on working hard and if I get my chance I’ll just have to take it.

“That’s all I can do – work hard and see where that takes me. I’m pleased with my progress this season. You always need to score goals – that’s the main thing; it gives you confidence and the goals won the game, so I’m happy.”
