Wilfried Zaha scored a brace against Brighton in the playoffs

England manager Roy Hodgson has talked up Manchester United’s Wilfried Zaha, and is confident that the attacker will be given every chance to establish himself in David Moyes’ side next season.

Zaha will play his last game for Crystal Palace tomorrow ahead of a summer move to Manchester, where he will look to take his game to the next level after United splashed £12m to sign him.

And Hodgson, who gave Zaha his first England cap against Sweden back in November, believes he will be able to make the step up:

“I like Wilfried Zaha, I think he is a good player.

“I went to Palace not so long back to have a look at him and of course he has a massive move to Manchester United. It seems to me he is on the threshold of something big.”

“He will be given the opportunity, when a club like Manchester United is prepared to pay a lot of money for a player because they will help them to win things it is a tremendous boost to both confidence and ego.

“As coaches we can’t do any more. After you have lit the touchpaper, all we can do is retire and hope they buzz.”
