Manchester United have confirmed the signing of Penarol right back Guillermo Varela.
The 20 year old joins United for an undisclosed fee thought to be in the £1.6m region, and becomes the first player signed in the David Moyes era.
Varela underwent a trial at Old Trafford last month, and it appears coaches liked what they saw. Having completed his medical at the Bridgewater Hospital this morning the club has confirmed on the official website that a deal has been reached to sign up the young talent.
The starlet will have to wait to link up with his new team mates as he immediately heads to Turkey to join up with his international team mates as Uruguay participate in the u20 World Cup in Turkey.
