Having insisted that Robert Lewandowski wouldn’t be going to Bayern Munich, it was believed that Manchester United’s path to the striker was a lot clearer.
Not so!
Borussia Dortmund are hell bent on keeping their striker out of Bayern Munich’s clutches having sold starlet Mario Goetze to the Champions League winners, and are said to be willing to accept a £25m offer from anyone except Bayern but would prefer to keep the striker.
In an attempt to sway the Pole to stay, Bild are reporting that Dortmund have tripled his wages in the last year of his contract in a showing of good will and hope that he will reciprocate.
The German paper claim that he will now receive £75k a week this season, hoping that they may be able to change his mind before the deal expires.
They also claimed that United were offered Lewandowski last season for a mere £18m, but now 12 months later with his contract running they want more due to his exploits this season including scoring 4 goals against Real Madrid.
@TheBusbyWay very bad news for #MUFC :'(
