Having been on trial with Manchester United during the latter part of the season, Leicester’s Jeff Schlupp is hoping to use what he picked up at Old Trafford to hit the big time.
The German born Ghanaian played a number of games for the u21s before heading back to the King Power stadium, and clearly the 20 year old had been paying attention during his time here because he hit 3 goals in 6 games upon his return.
Having also been used as a left back in his time at Leicester, Schlupp is hoping that he will be able to stake his claim as a striker, thanks to help from Robin Van Persie, Wayne Rooney & Sir Alex Ferguson as he told Soar Magazine:
“The experience at Manchester United was fantastic.
“To have the opportunity to train alongside the likes of Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie was brilliant.
“They would occasionally give me tips here and there while we were doing finishing practice, advising me on my body position and things like that – but you can just watch those kind of players and still learn so much.
“I was able to play in a couple of under-21 games, including one against Liverpool, and it just added to a great experience which made me realise where I want to be in my career.
“I spoke with Sir Alex a couple of times. Before games, he would just tell me that I was a good player and to go out and play to the best of my ability. He just calmed you down and made you feel like the pressure was off.
“I still feel that I’m at my best as a striker,” he said. “When I came back (from United) in March, I was put on as a striker and I went on to score three goals in six games, which was pleasing.
“I’m more than happy to play wherever the manager needs me to.
“I’m not naturally a defender, but I hope that the manager feels that I can be called upon if I’m needed in a certain position.”
