The phrase “footballer’s car” is bandied around a fair bit, but have you ever stopped to wonder what cars footballers actually drive?
Moreover, have you ever considered just how many pitches they cover, and how many balls they had to kick to earn enough money to pay for their wheels?
Car classifieds site Autoweb have created an infographic that shows just that, matching some of the top stars in association football to some of the fastest road cars in production. The stats are astounding – for instance, Wayne Rooney’s Lamborghini Gallardo took the Scouse star a single week’s wages to pay for (we’d say before tax, but…) – whereas Real Madrid’s Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo had to scrimp and save for two whole months before he could drive home his £1.5m Bugatti Veyron. Poor Cristiano.
Manchester United certainly attracts the kind of player who loves a supercar and you can read more about their latest motors on our Manchester United News page.
United should cut Rooney’s wages 2 150
