Former youth player of the year Mats Moller Daehli has left Old Trafford, heading to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Molde on a 2 year deal.

Yesterday we reported quotes from Daehli’s agent talking about a move away from Old Trafford but we assumed it was a loan rather than a permanent deal but today it has been confirmed that the 2011/2012 young player of the year will return to Norway.

Daehli told Molde’s TV Channel:

“I feel very wanted here at Molde”

Whilst Solskjaer added:

“I advised Mats to go to Manchester United, but told him he could come back to Molde to play if he wanted.”

The move comes as a surprise as it was thought that Daehli had a bright future at Old Trafford, and just last week former United defender Ronny Johnsen talked the midfielder up.

where have you got this story from? There’s a few blog type sites saying it. I can’t see it confirmed on any of the main sites. It’s not on our official site either. I can’t see us letting him go

Seeing a few reports on twitter etc too. If this is true then we have some serious issues with retention. We may aswell scrap our youth system the way we are going

Seriously we’re letting going of this talented lad? Yet Tom cleverly, welbeck and phil jones play nearly every week and they’re absolute dog shite!

Molde is. Feeder club anyway and the deal will have a buy back clause so if he does develop further, united will have first dibs
