Whilst making just a cameo appearance in United’s first pre season game this summer, it appears Wilfried Zaha impressed David Moyes.

There had been talk of Zaha going out on loan this season with a return to his old club Crystal Palace as well as West Ham amongst other London clubs mentioned but Moyes said that the 20 year old would be assessed over the pre season before any decision was made.

But after coming on against a Thailand Premier League XI and showing flashes of what he can do, it appears Moyes has taken a liking to the youngster and has now said he will be part of the squad this season. Making his United bow, Zaha almost got onto the scoresheet with a curling effort that smashed off the post.

Speaking after United’s 1-0 loss, the new manager said:

“Wilfried did well, he gave us a little bit of something different.

“We have brought him here to give him a chance. It is the first time I have worked with him and had a chance to see him up close.

“He will certainly be part of the squad and we will see where we can fit him in as often as we can.”

Moyes also praised Adnan Januzaj who made his first start for United;

“(Adnan Janusaz) was a plus for us. He played well. It is always good when you give a young player a chance and he shows up. He did that tonight.

“The more he plays like that, the more opportunities he is likely to get.”
