Cesc Fabregas

Bryan Robson believes Manchester United will need to bring in reinforcements to keep up with Europe’s elite and Dwight Yorke thinks Cesc Fabregas is just the signing to do that.

Many of Europe’s elite like have already begun spending in an effort to strengthen for the new season, and in England both of United’s title rivals have begin splashing the cash but United’s only signing to date is 20 year old right back Guillermo Varela.

United have been heavily linked with a number of big names this summer but as yet, Moyes has not brought any recognised names into the team.

Former United captain Bryan Robson believes that it is essential United get fresh faces in before the transfer window closes:

“We’ve got a few people in mind who we would like to try and sign.

“You’ve got to try and bring new players in because Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Real Madrid are all top teams and they want to try and keep improving all the time.”

One name that has increasingly been mentioned in regards to a move to Old Trafford is former Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas.

With United lodging a bid for the player on Monday, he apparently told manager Tito Vilanova that he hopes to stay at Barcelona. But reports claim that Barcelona need the money and may be forced to sell the player and Dwight Yorke believes he is just the kind of quality that United need:

“I think Fabregas is a fantastic player and I hope he’s playing for Manchester United next season.

“If we can get him [Fabregas] it would be a fantastic scoop.

“The great thing about him is the fact that he had so many experiences in the Premier League. Him and [Robin] van Persie had a great understanding [at Arsenal] so we know he’s a top player.”
