Wayne Rooney was injured in training

Following Manchester United’s 3-2 defeat to Yokohama F Marinos Manchester United manager David Moyes confirmed that he expects Wayne Rooney to turn out for Manchester United against AIK Fotbol at the start of August.

Wayne Rooney has missed United’s pre season after injuring his hamstring in the club’s first training session having flown into Bangkok for a game against a Singha All Star XI.

Interest and a bid from Chelsea has left Rooney’s future in doubt, but Moyes has remained adamant that the player is not for sale and he has reiterated that, claiming that he expects to see Rooney in Stockholm for United’s game with AIK.

Speaking to MUTV, the manager said:

“As far as we know Wayne [Rooney] is coming on.

“He’s started light jogging and the feedback I’m getting from the physios is that he’s progressing. Hopefully those dates are still on track.

“We have said he is not for sale, and that hasn’t changed.”
