Strootman

With new Bayern Munich signing Thiago revealing that Manchester United never made an attempt to sign him, yet another midfielder Manchester United were linked with has revealed that the club never actually made an approach to sign him.

Dutch midfielder Kevin Strootman was heavily linked with United before signing for Roma last month, with some papers going as far as claiming that a deal had been struck and Strootman would be announced as a United player on July 1st.

The move didn’t materialise and although PSV claimed that Strootman wouldn’t be sold he ended up moving to the Italian capital in a £15m move .

Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Dutch captain explained how he ended up at Roma, claiming that he received no concrete offers from anywhere else:

“Did Manchester United and AC Milan want me? Only Roma came forward seriously for me and I liked their project.

“Rudi Garcia called me and convinced me to make the move, and I’m happy to be here.”
