Manchester United’s reported swoop for Daniele De Rossi, Marouane Fellaini and Anders Herrera is reported set to fail with United encountering a number of obstacles.
It was reported that United were looking to bring the trio to Old Trafford this weekend ahead of Monday’s transfer deadline. Having made approaches for all 3 players and being knocked back, United were set to to improve their offers, rounding off a transfer window that hasn’t gone their way.
But as has been the pattern so far, United’s are facing disappointment.
In Spain, United’s pursuit of Ander Herrera is looking likely to end in disappointment after the midfielder travelled with the Basque side to face Real Madrid. Sky’s Spanish football expert Guillem Ballague took to Twitter to say of the transfer:
Ander Herrera travels to Madrid for game. He’s told the coach he’s available.

As of today, conversations for Herrera have stopped. United think 36m euros too much to pay. It’s a complex deal and not much time left

In terms of United’s pursuit of De Rossi, that too looks like it won’t be happening with Roma manager Rudi Garcia dismissing United’s attempts to sign his player.
De Rossi was said to be ready to leave Roma this summer, having been at the club since 2000, but Garcia is said to be part of the reason why he changed his mind and the French coach spoke on his player, confirming he would remain at the club:
“Daniele de Rossi isn’t only a big player, but he’s also a big man. He has been here at Roma for a long time and he wants to play with this jersey.
“We spoke when he came back from his holidays and we said that, if it got past a certain date, he would certainly remain with us.
‘He will stay here for the whole season and this is something that satisfies me a lot.”
That leaves just Fellaini. United remain hopeful that a deal can be agreed with Everton for the £25m rated player before Monday and with the player keen to reunite with his former manager at Old Trafford, it appears that United may only sign one of their 3 targets.
