England are just one win away from automatic qualification to the World Cup in Brazil next year but if Hodgson’s men are to finish top of Group H they will have to beat a tough Poland side at Wembley tonight.

Beating a weakened Montenegro side 4-1 last Friday has added some much needed momentum to a less than convincing qualifying campaign from England, yet a win over Waldemar Fornalik’s team tomorrow night would be enough to help them finish top of the group.

Brave selection choices, such as the inclusion of Tottenham speedster Andros Townsend, helped show England’s attacking potential and against Poland many are expecting a similar line up in what is a must-win match.

Poland on the other hand are out of contention for Brazil 2014 next year but will be hoping to emulate the 1973 Polish national side who prevented England reaching the World Cup in West Germany thanks to a 1-1 draw. Goalkeeper Jan Tomaszewski was the hero of that match and current Polish keeper Artur Boruc is aiming to stop England in their tracks.

“We are still talking about Jan Tomaszewski in Poland and we’ve all been brought up on what happened in that game,” Boruc told the Sunday Telegraph. “It’s not going to be the same sort of match as we can’t qualify but I just want to stop England.”
