“If Manchester United offer €18 million, as I feel they will, he’ll go”

Montpellier president Louis Nicollin has admitted that United could sign playmaker Remy Cabella, with a deal being struck as early as this January.

United have been linked with a move for the young Frenchman recently and could grab him for as little as £14m after Nicollin set a price for the player.

Montpellier’s stance on the 23 year old has changed, having previously priced him at £100m and manager Jean Fernandez has previously said:

“If during the winter transfer window Manchester United offer €18 million, as I feel they will, he’ll go. Even if it risks killing the team, we can’t say no.”

Now Nicollin has revealed that Cabella could head to United for the right price:

“If they give us €17 million, we’ll see. We have a deal with him that he leaves in June, not January. But everything can be negotiated, particularly with such a good little one.”

Cabella is rated as one of Ligue 1’s brightest talents but the fact that Montpellier are publicly announcing that they are so willing to let him leave makes you wonder. Having (unrealistically) priced him at £100m, the French club’s valuation of the star seems to be falling with each passing comment.
