David Moyes Left Man United One Last Gift Before Getting Sacked

Despite being sacked by Manchester United on Tuesday morning, David Moyes delivered one final gift to the club before leaving, a £30m deal to sign Southampton’s Luke Shaw.

The club believe that they have all but completed a deal to sign the youngster, paying £30m for his service and the player himself a huge £100k a week according to The Guardian.

It was believed that Shaw was keen to return to Chelsea where he started his career and who he supports, but prior to his departure Moyes is believed to have put in graft to convince Shaw to pick Old Trafford instead.

With Cesar Azpilicueta and Ashley Cole blocking his path into the first team, Shaw was informed that he would be the replacement for stalwart Patrice Evra. The youngster is believed to have jumped at the chance but now Moyes has departed that playing field has changed slightly.

Evra was believed to be on his way out of the club, with Moyes searching high and low for a replacement for the Frenchman, but with Moyes gone, Evra is keen to stay. But it won’t affect the Shaw deal as Evra is believed to be keen to remain at United and act as a mentor to the teenager.

With United set to spend heavily this season to close the gap on rivals that have streaked ahead after this disastrous season,  spending £30m on Shaw will take a sizeable chunk out the funds available, but the general consensus is that the fee is seen as an investment in a player that could provide years of service especially under the tutelage of Evra.
