Marouane Fellaini has vowed to show Manchester United fans what he can do after a tough debut season at Old Trafford.

Signed for £27.5m on transfer deadline day last summer, Fellaini failed to live up to his billing and is widely regarded as a flop after a string of poor performances for United especially in the big games.

But Fellaini feels a lack of fitness contributed to this, with wrist and back injuries in particular hampering his progress as he told The Telegraph:

“I need to be fit to be good,” he says, simply. “Even when I am injured I can play but the fitness is not the same. I was injured for three months and that was a difficult moment for me. When you arrive in a new team you want to play, you want to stay with the team and when you can’t play it is difficult to see the team – even off the pitch.”

With just one game to go, Fellaini is already looking to the future. With next season in mind, the Belgian is ready to show United fans what he is capable of:

“When this season finishes I will start with my preparation for the next year and it will be good. I will look to show what I can do next season.”
