Manchester United have started the 2014/15 Barclays Premier League season in somewhat inconsistent form. It is the worst start to a season for the Red Devils since 1986/87 …. But is Louis Van Gaal to blame?

Van Gaal has struggled to find consistency

Van Gaal has struggled to find consistency

The comparisons between LVG and Moyes are starting to be banded about, and we at The Busby Way want to pose the question, is Van Gaal REALLY any better than David Moyes?

United have taken four points less from Van Gaal’s first ten Premier League matches in charge compared to what they accumulated with Moyes, and the games Van Gaal have had have been arguably easier.

There is no denying that United are starting to look like the side that tormented the Premier League whilst under the helm of Sir Alex Ferguson, however the transition period is taking somewhat longer than most expected.

Van Gaal has not received as much criticism as Moyes during his tenure at the club, part of this comes down to to that style of play that United have undertook this season.

An emphasis on attacking with purpose and being clinical in the final third have seen Van Gaal not become a scapegoat, something that Moyes was often used as.

An element of bad luck has hit Van Gaal in terms of the ever-growing injury list in the defensive department, with Rojo, Rafael, Phil Jones and Johnny Evans all sidelined due to injury.

The Dutch manager was able to attract top talent from around the world this summer, even without the lure of Champions League football. LVG managed to sign the coveted Real Madrid winger Angel Di Maria, and also arguably one of the best strikers in the world in Radamel Falcao.

Moyes’ most high-profile signing was that of Juan Mata, however the former Chelsea midfielder has failed to live up to his potential at Old Trafford and has been linked with a move away from the club.

Van Gaal without doubt still has significant problems to fix at the Manchester club, but even with a lower points total compared to last season under David Moyes, it is fair to say that the Red Devils look like an improved team who are only going to get better. He could still do with taking advantage of an offer requiring a promo code though.

WHAT do you think United fans? IS LVG really better than Moyes? LET US KNOW BELOW!

The number of points is probably the reason why people are daring to compare the two but any comparison is simply ludicrous. Under Moyes Utd had no direction and was playing old age football with crosses into the penalty are as the main weapon. Under LVG Utd is practicing entertaining football again and matching the likes of Chelsea & City on equal terms.LVG can be rightly blamed for not bringing a top C Half but he had identified Hummels and Dortmund wouldn’t sell. Moreover, can anyone recall a season when Utd suffered so many defensive injuries ? I have absolutely no doubt that Utd are in the right hands and things will change for the better sooner rather than later.
