Chelsea are reportedly targeting Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe to replace Enzo Maresca at Stamford Bridge.

Maresca’s 18-month spell ended on New Year’s Day amid tensions with the club’s hierarchy.

Liam Rosenior, Strasbourg’s current head coach and part of the BlueCo network, is also seen as a strong candidate to succeed Maresca.

However, The Sunday Express reports that Chelsea have approached Howe and held discussions with his representatives.

The Englishman could be offered a “significant pay rise” if he moves to Stamford Bridge.

Eddie Howe’s Record

Howe has been at Newcastle for over four years.

He led the Magpies to their first domestic trophy in 70 years, winning the Carabao Cup last season.

The former Bournemouth manager still has more than three years remaining on his contract.

Liam Rosenior Update

Rosenior was asked about Chelsea links after Strasbourg drew 1–1 with Nice.

He responded: “I don’t know, to be honest.

I said it in the press conference, you never know what might happen in life.

It’s difficult to describe the connection I have with this group. I feel loved, I’ve loved this job from the start.

My answer remains the same – I don’t know. Nothing is concrete, there are no concrete discussions.

I just want to focus on the team, on the club, which is a magnificent club. What will be, will be. I have to stay focused on the present moment.

It’s a beautiful city, with wonderful people, a fantastic club. I’ve loved everything about it. The players have been incredible. I truly want the best for this club.”

Chelsea are in the process of evaluating their managerial options as the Premier League season continues.

The Blues’ hierarchy appear to be weighing experience and prior success heavily in their decision-making.

Howe’s domestic achievements and familiarity with top-flight English football make him an attractive candidate.

Rosenior remains focused on Strasbourg, leaving Chelsea’s future leadership uncertain but under active discussion.

The club is expected to make a decision soon to stabilise the squad for the challenging fixtures ahead.
