Al Hilal moves closer to sealing one of the most expensive transfers in Saudi Pro League history as talks over Crysencio Summerville reach their final stage. The Dutch winger looks set for a Riyadh switch this week.
West Ham will receive a fee understood to sit around 60 million pounds, with roughly 55 million paid upfront and a further 5 million tied to bonuses and incentives once conditions are met. That values the deal near 70 million euros in total.
The package places Summerville second on the all-time list of Saudi Pro League signings, trailing only Neymar’s 90 million euro move to Al Hilal from Paris Saint-Germain back in 2023. He will surpass Jhon Duran’s switch from Aston Villa to Al Nassr.
Roma had appeared to be front-runners for much of the past week and reportedly arranged a private jet to bring Summerville to Italy before Al Hilal intervened. The Serie A club’s offer sat closer to 46 million euros and could not match the Saudi package.
Manchester United and Aston Villa also held interest in the 24 year old but neither club moved to match the financial terms on the table. Personal terms are believed to include wages of around 15 million euros per season.
Summerville’s stock rose sharply during the World Cup, where he scored a well taken goal for the Netherlands in their opening group match against Sweden. Ronald Koeman’s decision to start him throughout the tournament appears to have caught wider attention.
He arrived at West Ham from Leeds United in 2024 for a fee near 29 million euros but struggled for form during a difficult first season in east London. His output improved last term before relegation ended his Premier League spell.
The winger contributed seven goals and five assists across 34 league appearances last season as West Ham slipped into the Championship. His departure had looked likely from the moment the club’s relegation was confirmed in May.
West Ham have already recouped significant funds this summer after selling midfielder Mateus Fernandes to Tottenham for a reported 85 million pounds. Manager Nuno Espirito Santo remains in charge as the Hammers target an immediate return to the top flight.
A long-term contract in Saudi Arabia is reportedly prepared and awaiting only the completion of a medical and final authorisations. Once those formalities clear, Summerville is expected to be announced as an Al Hilal player before the new season begins.
