Siddarth’s season preview

The season might be one of the most important in Manchester United’s history, if we go all the way in the Champions League and win it, I’m pretty sure Sir Alex will retire.  Also three United legends might be playing their last season with Gary Neville almost certain to retire at the end of the season with Giggs and Scholes potentially following.

United have strengthened the team with Hernandez and Smalling, who look like excellent acquisitions. Hernandez especially looks set to shine. Another player to keep an eye on is Darron Gibson; this is an important season for him as he looks to justify Fergie’s tag as the next Scholes.

Tom Cleverley (his staying is almost like a new midfielder being brought in), Fabio and Obertan should also be worth keeping an eye on and amongst the senior members this is a huge season for Carrick, Anderson, Berbatov and Owen, if they want to be around for next season they have got to perform! Especially Messer’s Anderson and Berbatov, who have a lot to prove to both the fans and the manager.

Key players this season will be Rooney, Valencia, Nani, Vidic and Fletcher. Expect Javier to score around 10-15 goals at least if he stays fit throughout the season and Gibson should be scoring a lot more too this season, maybe around 10 would be excellent from him.

Overall we are looking good as we have strengthened all areas (depth on the wings might be the only questionable area, long term injury to Nani or Valencia might see us a bit stretched), so I see no reason why United can’t challenge for the title and go all the way and win it.

The Champions League is going to be tough this season, I don’t think we’ll win it; I can see us making the Semi’s at least. League Cup will be worth watching to see the youngsters play and I think we might seriously challenge for the FA Cup this season.
