With the title race reaching its climax, United can’t afford any slip-ups when they take the short visit to the Reebok Stadium to face a Bolton side at Saturday tea time.

The Wanderers, who seem to have been re-vitalised under the stewardship of fans hero Owen Coyle, look to have secured their Premier League status for another year, with a run of three wins in their last five games lifting them clear of the drop zone. Coyle has stiffened up the error prone defence and consequently Bolton have kept four successive clean sheets. However, Coyle’s men are faced with are different prospect in Wayne Rooney. Rooney continues to deny expectations with his remarkable current goalscoring form scoring 17 in his last 13 games.  Ominously for Bolton, the England striker has hit six goals in his last four games against them, including a hat-trick on his last visit to the Reebok.

It’s some consolation that centre back and future England prospect Gary Cahill maybe fit to start for the Whites after recovering from a blood clot in his arm that has kept him out since the end of January. United, who have lost just once in their last 13 games in all competitions need to be wary of the threat from Bolton’s set pieces – they’ve scored more than any other team in the Premier League (21).

However, the worrying stat for all Bolton fans is that the Wanderers are the only team in the Premier League yet to take a single point off a “Big Four” team this season, not to mention the fact that Bolton have lost nine of their last 10 meetings against Sir Alex Ferguson’s men.

Owen Coyle has already outwitted Sir Alex Ferguson once this season after Burnley’s Robbie Blake sent United to their first defeat of the season after just two games with many pundits claiming United’s title aspirations were gone there and then. Seven months down the line, the odds are heavily stacked against the Bolton manager repeating the trick on Saturday, as United hope they can win their fifth consecutive victory to keep ahead of the pack and march towards a fourth consecutive title.

yeah good point, are pace should be tooo much for them. Also, Evra has a great leap for a small man, as long as we mark the Bolton supporting cast Davies can win the headers all day long. In the box Vido should sort him. I don’t think Valencia will be as effective up front, Rooney will miss his service from the flank. Yes Nani can supply, but to be honest it’s not half as good as Luis.
