Having cried out for a striker to act as cover for Wayne Rooney, our prayers have been answered, sort of.

Today it was announced the club had signed Mexican international Javier Hernandez for an undisclosed fee from Chivas.

At just 21 the young striker has risen to prominence in his country scoring 4 goals in 4 international appearances for the national side and has been equally prolific for Chivas this season too netting 21 times in 28 games. Part of a famous footballing family (both his father and grand father are reputable footballers in Mexico), Hernandez announced his arrival in the game in style scoring 5 minutes after coming off the bench on his debut back in 2006.

He has been described as having great anticipation and ability to read the game, finding and makes space for himself thus is very dangerous in the box.  Although not very tall, he is decent in the air and needs just a split second to score with his head or either foot such is his composure in front of goal.

‘Chicharito’ as he is known is likely to be included in Mexico’s World Cup squad so we will be able to get a better picture of the potential gem we have unearthed.

his father was nicknamed “chicharo” (pea) for his green eyes, so he is named “chicharito” as in “Little Pea”

He is not decent in the air, you got it all WRONG, he’s prolific, yes hes not the tallest lad you will ever see yet this boy can get UP!! he can JUMP!! “el Chicharito ” is the new Hugo Sanchez!!! yup I said it, the numbers don’t lie. I only wish that he gets sufficient playing time.

MAN U has picked up the best young MEXICAN player since HUGO.

He reminds me of a young Thierry Henry. Looks like a good signing from that clip, but its always difficult to judge from Youtube. I guess he will take a season or two to gel in the squad and bulk up a bit of muscle for the premier league! Its an undisclosed fee, anyone have any rough ideas how much he cost? i say around £8 million.

Thierry Henry ?? …far from it…he reminds me more of Solskear.
Same movement on and off the ball and the style of finishing is very similiar.
He could be a good catch for us.

hey Tony Montana in Mexico says that the deal was for around 10 million Dollars plus Manchester play against chivas in the new stadium on july, and chicharito will play half time with chivas and the other half time with ManUtd. So the deal was that 10millions+chivas VS ManUtd in the new stadium.
