One man team you say pah!

I will get started straight away by saying I was pretty impressed with our performance today. Some said we didn’t play great against City but we looked good against an in form Spurs side and reaped the rewards. It got a bit sticky after they equalised and Lennon came on and had some flashes but overall we were the better side and were well worth our 3-1.

Obviously the news Wayne Rooney was going to miss the game took some of us by surprise (I found out in time to change my fantasy football team but a dodgy Internet connection meant I didn’t get to take him out before the deadline!) and there was the obvious panic but I think we handled his absence well. Worryingly Sir Alex said he could be out for 2-3 weeks, effectively ruling him out for the season.

Although he didn’t get a goal, I was impressed with Berbatov today he looked like he was really trying (not to say he hasn’t before) and there was a different energy about his performance today. His role in winning the penalty spoke of the effort he put in and overall he showed proper commitment, the kind we need to see week in week out. I just wish he would wear proper studs I think I’ve seen him slip or lose his footing in decent positions in the past 3 or 4 games!

Another player that impressed me was Nani. In what has been his best spell in a United shirt I’m actually getting bored showering him with praise but if he keeps playing the way he is I will have to! The way he took his goal was perfect and shows what a little confidence can do for your game. His celebration was hilarious too he went mental and looked like he didn’t know what to do (it was only his ‘second’ of the season I think he should be credited with the Arsenal goal though) he almost took off his top luckily Giggs caught up with him as he was already on a yellow and would have been off!

‘Inexperience’ and ‘Rafael’, two words that seem to go hand in hand at the moment. Although Ledley King was all over Carrick in climbing to score his header, Rafael should have been on the post and actually stepped out of the way when the ball came towards him. He had a decent game and the ease with which he skinned Bale after showed he wouldn’t let his mistake get him down which shows good character. Sky did a close up of the bench when the second goal went in, I though he was going to burst a vein when it went in.

Another week another special mention to the Old Guard, Scholes sprayed balls all over the park and dominated the game again whilst Giggs’ goals were invaluable with his second finally killing off the game (I bet he was glad Neville wasn’t playing!) Did you know the first was the first penalty he has scored in the Premier League? Amazing considering how many games he has played.

The result sends us back to the top of the table and we were also able to reduce the goal difference between us and Chelsea, all over it was a good game and a good day.

Over to the Rent Boys, lets see how they handle Stoke especially without ‘Big Man’.

it was a massive win again.team ran out of ideas in the first half even though two good passes from Rafael and Nani opened up spurs defence to an extend.great character shown by berbatov.instrumental in 1st goal.some performance we expect from him every time.Scholes and Fletch had a good one too.Rafael nullified the efeect of Modric and bale.great future is ahead for him.now its over to Pulis and boys to make something at bridge.
