As we sit and wait to see who Sir Alex will sign this summer (I choose not to believe his line on few if any signings) I, The Transfer Muppet, have taken it upon myself to draw up a little (not very little) list of players I would like to see at the club, players that we have been linked with and players that we could potentially sign.

First on my list is Gojko Kacar.

We were first linked with the Serbian midfielder last summer and the official United site even had a scout report on him in the fan zone section.

Kacar is an extremely versatile player who can defend as well as get forward. Primarily a midfielder he has been employed as a centre back by Hertha Berlin to capitalise on his defensive capabilities but whilst in midfield he can get forward and find the net, scoring 6 goals in this an injury hit season. At just 23, many are impressed with his attitude and he has a will to win reminiscent of Roy Keane that endears him to his fans. No wonder AC Milan, Juve and Hamburg amongst others are also interested!

Kacar is relatively tall at 6ft and does not mind using his size to impose himself on games and could provide competition for the central spots in our midfield. We have been crying out for a creative midfielder but a goal scoring box to box player wouldn’t go a miss either.

His team Hertha Berlin were relegated this season and a player of his stature and ambitions will want to be playing at a higher level than the second tier of German football so this could work in our favour or any team looking to sign him.

Radomir Antic has included him in his 24 man World Cup squad so he will get a chance to add to his current 12 caps in South Africa (perfect time for Vida to have a word in his ear!). If he has an impressive tournament as is expected of him then his fee could sky rocket as he is currently valued at around €7m (a fee sure to at least double if United coming knocking).
