Our site has worked with ThisIsFutbol’s Mark Greenwood before.

He provided us with a pretty good  description of Javi Martinez is in The Transfer Muppet’s piece and now he has drawn up a list of top La Liga based players we should look at this summer.

Mark lives in Spain so knows his stuff and I found his list interesting but I was just wondering if you agree with the players he has named.

Here is an excerpt from his blog:

(Real Madrid)

Completing a trio of Real Madrid players is attacking midfielder Granero. “The Pirate” is highly underrated and is a top attacking midfielder who can also play on the left. Good with the ball at his feet and good at delivering it too, Granero would be a fine replacement for the ageing Paul Scholes even though he wouldn’t count as a marquee signing.

We need creativity. With the likelihood of limited funds we should be looking no further than J Cole and Van Der Vaart, then have 5 across midfield with J Cole, VDV, Valencia, Nani and Fletcher, with VDV playing the supporting role just behind.

Wow, Granero is looking pretty African.
Seriously though, if I haven’t said it a million times – SILVA! It is somewhat shocking that he is only valued around 25 million, as IMO he is on his way to becoming among the greats and could easily be worth twice that in a year or two.

Seeing as he’d be perfect for us and will soon be worth a lot more, United should simply submit a higher bid than anyone expects (35-40 million) rather than getting into a bidding war this year, or having to pay that much anyways next year. Though Valencia are less tempted after their sale of Villa, it’s not as if their debts are wiped away yet and that much cash could sway their stance on keeping him.

Diarra is an interesting prospect, but we should await on Hargreaves performance first. Let’s prioritize needs based on position rather than simply which good players are on the market.

From the list I would take Silva too but taking finances into account (I don’t buy into the whole we have 95m to spend rubbish) I don’t think we will bid so much for him, if we bid for him at all.

It would have been nice to have made a move for him before Villa went esp as there were quotes attributed to him saying he wanted to come to OT.
    Probably too late now.
